The die is a polyhedron used as a random number generator. Its sides are distinguished from each other by, for example, numbers, colors or patterns. It is usually used in board games, the most common type being the hexahedron. The sum of the numbers on the opposite sides is always 7.
There are dice that have not only 6, but 4, 8, 10, 12, 20, 30 or even 100 sides. It is incorrect to call them dice, instead the expression D (number of cards of the dice) is used. (for example: D4, D8, D10, D12, D20, D30, D100) Dice rolling was a popular form of fortune telling and gambling in ancient Europe. This was played using 2 dice and a glass, and a bet was placed on the outcome, or a mystical meaning was attributed to it.
